The Important Role of Media Center in a Big Event

As a front line in disseminating information, the media center has a crucial role in big events. It encourages event organizers to provide a media center with complete and comfortable facilities, including in the 43rd ASEAN Summit in Jakarta, 5-7 September 2023.

The presence of the media center during the 43rd ASEAN Summit received a positive response from all journalists from various countries. The reason was simple: the media center, which was located at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC), was spacious, comfortable, and equipped with various facilities.

Various facilities were available in the media center at the 43rd ASEAN Summit, such as 240 LAN computer workstations supported by a 1.5 Gbps internet network from Telkom, an international broadcast distribution center, ten media partner office booths measuring 5x3 meters, as well as an audio-video editing booth.

Furthermore, the 24-hour operational media center had an audio-video editing booth, a one-on-one studio, two stand-up positions and webcast/live streaming units, multi-format broadcast conversion, several lots for Satellite News Gathering (SNG), and a rest area.

Various facilities support journalists' work during the 43rd ASEAN Summit 2023. It is hoped that all journalists could disseminate accurate information to support the success of the 43rd ASEAN Summit in Jakarta.

What is the Importance of a Media Center in an Event?

Seeing the many facilities provided in the media center during the 43rd ASEAN Summit 2023 in Jakarta led to questions: What is the importance of the media center in a big event?

As mentioned previously, the media center has a very crucial role in the continuity of an event. This is because the media center functions to disseminate the latest information to all levels of society through reports created by journalists.

The presence of a media center in a big event also plays an important role in fighting hoaxes (false information), fake news, and disinformation, which is increasingly widespread along with the increase of internet users in Indonesia and the world. It cannot be separated from the "duty" of the media center, which must be able to distribute information quickly, precisely, and accurately.

A media center at a big event can also make all levels of society feel closer and more involved. This is because they can participate in the entire series of events even though they are in different places.
