Belitung, Indonesia - The Directorate General of ASEAN Cooperation of Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the first time held the "ASEAN Goes to School" activity in Belitung Regency, Bangka Belitung Province, to socialize ASEAN and Indonesia's ASEAN Chairmanship 2023.

The ASEAN Goes to School activity was carried out as part of a series of activities at the sidelines of the 7th Meeting of the ASEAN High Level Task Force on ASEAN Community's Post 2025 (HLTF-ACV) in Belitung on March 18-20 2023 which involved 22 ASEAN Senior Officials.

Taking place at Rimba Alam Bahagia, Kacang Butor Village, Belitung Regency, Indonesian Diplomats interacted with 76 students from Sekolah Dasar Keluarga Universal and Sekolah Dasar Negeri 07 Badau. Also present was a guest speaker - a diplomat from Malaysia - Ms. Aadela Melati Ahmad Termizi, who shared her experience as a diplomat.

The enthusiasm of the students was seen from their active participation during the event. Representatives of the Belitung Regency Government who were present also gave their appreciation and positive responses, and hoped that similar activities could be carried out more broadly in Belitung Regency, namely for junior high school and high school levels, to welcome the year of the ASEAN Community 2025.

At the end of the event, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs handed ASEAN teaching materials for elementary and junior high schools to the Belitung Regency Education and Culture Office, as well as the Sekolah Dasar Keluarga Universal and SD Negeri 07 Badau.​
