Jakarta, 6 September 2023 – The new look of Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII), which translates to Beautiful Indonesia Miniature Park, is expected to give unforgettable experiences to the spouses of ASEAN Heads of State as the venue for the Spouse Program of the 43rd ASEAN Summit in Jakarta, Wednesday (6 September).
This was mentioned by TMII Operations Director Arie Prasetyo to the Communications and Media Team of the 43rd Summit in Jakarta on Wednesday (6 September).
"We are confident to present the new look of Indonesia (in TMII) to the First Ladies from ASEAN," he said.
The First Ladies will enjoy an outdoor breakfast at the Cultural Stage by the TMII cultural park’s Lake Archipelago. The outdoor concept was prepared to allow delegates and tourists to enjoy the beautiful view of the miniatures of the country’s islands in the middle of the lake.
The group was also entertained with lighthearted performances from the Puppets’ Palace positioned right next to the Cultural Stage.
The next program was luncheon at Pendopo Sasono Hutomo gazebo, the venue which is frequently chosen to host luncheons, is known for its distinctive architecture that will leave a favourable impression to visitors.
Arie explained that his party also prepareda traditional dance performance and traditional clothing show at the route passed by the spouses when moving to Pendopo Sasono Hutomo from the Cultural Stage.
The group will be transported by car from the Cultural Stage to Pendopo Sasono Hutomo with a route passing through the East Kalimantan Pavillion, South Kalimantan Pavillion, Aceh Pavillion, North Sumatra Pavillion, South Sumatra Pavillion, and Bengkulu Pavillion.
Each pavilion will display the characteristics of its respective region. At the East Kalimantan pavilion, the group will witness local residents performing traditional daily activities like line drying clothes, meanwhile, at the South Sumatra Pavilion there will be a traditional dance performance by a group of youths and a traditional musical performance from a group of children at the North Sumatra Pavilion.
“They will see a different synopsis of Indonesian culture. They can calso catch a glimpse of the diversity and beauty of Indonesian pavilion architectures. It’ll be memorable for them," said Arie.
TMII has also prepared six female tour guides who will accompany the First Ladies at each pavilion to explain the meaning and philosophy of the pavilions so that they can understand the diversity of Indonesia.
Arie said it was important for the state guests to get the correct information about the objects they see at the TMII cultural park so that they would be able to spread the information on the beauty of Indonesia in their respective countries. "This could serve as a promotional event to the world," he concluded.
The TMII cultural park began revitalization for its new look in 2022, by adhering to a number of basic philosophies. Firstly, the principle of inclusivity while maintaining the philosophy of the Indonesian nation, namely Pancasila.
TMII cultural park is a tourist destination that is open for all walks of society who have tolerance for and respect the culture.
Secondly, is the green philosophy that is implemented by the TMII cultural park by the use of electric vehicles within its areas as well as the use ofeco-friendly energy sources.
Thirdly, is the philosophy of intelligence, in which the TMII is implementing digital platforms as a representation of future Indonesia. Lastly, is the cultural philosophy, in which TMII serves as a tourist destination that represents the diversity of Indonesian culture through optimizing arts and cultural activities and various attractions on open stages so that visitors can witness arts and cultural performances directly and be involved in the culture itself.
Meanwhile, the icon of TMII, Lake Archipelago, is a lake decorated with miniature islands of Indonesia. Now, a dancing fountain that displays light shows in the evenings has been installed in the lake. The Dancing Fountain shows are held every evening at the lake.
Activities of the spouse program of the 43rd ASEAN Summit is centered on Sasono Utomo and Lake Archipelago. During these activities, the delegates will enjoy, among others, opening dances, short film shows, and MSME exhibitions. The event is concluded with a luncheon.
