President Joko Widodo Ensures Loh Buaya's Readiness for the ASEAN Summit

 

Labuan Bajo, Kominfo Newsroom - The Implementing Agency for the Labuan Bajo & Flores Authority (BPOLBF) stated that President Joko Widodo visited Loh Buaya, Rinca Island, Komodo National Park to ensure the readiness of the region for the 42nd ASEAN Summit in Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai, East Nusa Tenggara, 9 to 11 May 2023.

 

"President (Joko Widodo) himself ensured the readiness of each destination to be ready to be visited during the Eid holidays and the ASEAN Summit," said BPOLBF President Director Shana Fatina in Labuan Bajo, Monday, 24 April 2023.

 

During a visit to Loh Buaya, President Joko Widodo passed the elevated deck that had been built.

 

Then, President Joko Widodo took a short break at Cafe Ranger, then headed to the Komodo Information Center to see the 52 dioramas.

 

Shana said the facility in Loh Buaya which has been worked on for the past two years, is a form of the government's commitment to preparing quality conservation tourism in Komodo National Park.

 

"Tourism that does not only rely on natural beauty but is also full of education and knowledge. Moreover, Labuan Bajo is a destination that is closely related to conservation and biodiversity," said Shana.

 

In the 42nd ASEAN Summit later, he said, the delegates were encouraged to extend visits with tours.

 

At least, he said, some of the 700 guests will stop by at tourist destinations. "Including its official media, which totals 300 pax," said Shana.

 

Furthermore, his party also will provide 10 helpdesks at the delegation's hotel and airport to introduce tour packages and Labuan Bajo tourist destinations throughout the event.

 

"So even if they don't have time to travel now, they will get enough information to come back and bring their families for tours," he emphasized.

 

Phinisi traditional yacht Ayana Lako Di'a took President Joko Widodo to sail to the Komodo National Park at 10.25 Central Indonesian Time (WITA).

 

The yacht brought President Joko Widodo back to Labuan Bajo and arrived at the pier at 17.09 WITA. The President then headed to the Meruorah Labuan Bajo Hotel to rest. (Francisca/TR/Elvira)
