Jakarta, Kominfo Newsroom – Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono expects to finalize the renovation of the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC) for the 43rd ASEAN Summit by 25 August 2023.

"Hopefully, on 25 August 2023, the renovation will be completed and we'll be able to see the results," Basuki said Saturday (12 August) in Jakarta.

The arrangement and renovation of infrastructural facilities in the JCC area are primarily in preparation for the 43rd ASEAN Summit, which will be held from 5—7 September 2023.

Basuki stated that the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing is prepared to provide complete infrastructure support for the 43rd ASEAN Summit.

The renovation of the JCC has been carried out by the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing via the Jakarta Metro Regional Settlement Infrastructure Center (BPPW), Directorate General of Human Settlements since 12 June 2023 with an implementation period of 105 days or by 25 August 2023.

The renovation of the JCC is funded by the State Budget to the tune of Rp115.88 billion, with 68.1 percent of the construction completed as of 11 August 2023.

The JCC renovation work consists of 4 Zones. Zone 1 (Lower Ground) includes the architectural work for the Kasuari Lounge, Merak Room, Nuri Room, Maleo Room, Kenari Room, Kakatua Room, Lower Lobby Pre-Function, Summit Room, Summit Lounge, walkway (to Hotel Sultan), prayer room, and restrooms, and is 62 percent complete.

Zone 2 (Ground Floor) comprises 65 percent of the architectural work on the Assembly Hall, Main Lobby, Cendrawasih Hall and Corridor, Prefunction Hall A, and VIP Room and toilet (Cendrawasih). Zone 3 (Ground) includes the plenary hall and corridors in addition to the president's area, with 58 percent progress.

76.5 percent progress has been made on Zone 4 (Ground), which includes the installation of a canopy, a drop-off arrangement, a front garden, a side garden, toilets, and an outdoor prayer room.

Diana Kusumastuti, Director General of Human Settlements for the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing, stated that the renovation of the JCC incorporated Indonesian cultural elements that reflected the character and identity of the Indonesian nation.

Diana Kusumastuti stated, "We added instruments that represent Indonesia's diversity, such as synthetic rattan dressing, padded walls, and carpets."

Aside from the JCC building area, the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing has, through the DKI Jakarta-West Java National Road Implementation Center (BBPJN), supported enhanced connectivity in the 4.67 km Gelora Bung Karno area through road preservation work since 31 July 2023. The cost of this minor renovation is Rp29.32, and construction is currently 10.3 percent complete. (Aji Cakti/Nurul Aulia Badar/Elvira Inda Sari)
