ASEAN Summit Security Personnel Urged to Uphold the Nation’s Honor

Kupang, 4 May 2023 – The regional security task force and the evacuation task force personnel from Timor Island, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), who are going to Labuan Bajo to secure the 42nd ASEAN Summit 2023, are asked to maintain the honor of the nation while on duty.

"What we are carrying out now is a state duty and an honor. Therefore, keep our reputation and don't make the slightest mistake during security," said the Chief of Staff of Military Region Command (Korem) 161/Wira Sakti, Army Equipment Corps Colonel Simon Petrus Kamlasi, in Kupang, Thursday (4/5/2023).

He conveyed the statement while giving directions to nine hundred Indonesian Army (TNI AD) personnel going to Labuan Bajo by the KRI Banjarmasin-592.

The number two in Korem 161/Wira Sakti ordered a number of task forces to maintain cohesiveness while on duty at the activity location.

"Maintain cohesiveness during the trip, care for each other. Ensure one control command, pay attention to safety factors, you are easy to find, and easy to control," he said.

Simon emphasized each troop commander to first provide a briefing about the provisions on the ship as what had been conveyed by the KRI Banjarmasin operator to ensure the implementation of security to remain humane and polite. However, they must be firm so as not to cause unwanted things to happen.

"Keep the good name of Korem 161/Wira Sakti, Kodam IX/Udayana, TNI AD, TNI, and the reputation of the country and nation, manifested in behavior and in carrying out tasks properly," he said.

The Pamwil Task Force and Evacuation Task Force for the 42nd ASEAN Summit in 2023 from Timor Island comprise Military Region Command Headquarters 161/Wira Sakti Unit, Military District Command (Kodim) 1604/Kupang, Kodim 1605/Belu, Kodim 1618/TTU, Kodim 1621/TTS, Intel Team, Infantry Brigade 21 /Komodo, Infantry Battalion RK 744/SYB, and Infantry Battalion 743/PSY.

In addition, there are Field Artillery Batalyon 20/GS, Air Defense Artillery Battalion 9/AWJ, Armored Cavalry Company 2 Cavalry Detachment 4, Company C of Combat Engineer 18, and Balak Aju Kodam IX/Udayana consisting of Supply and Transport Detachment IX-44-01 Kupang, Military Police Detachment IX/1 Kupang, Area Medical Detachment 09.04.01 Kupang, Military Region Command Transportation Detachment 161/Wira Sakti, Equipment Detachment IX/1 Kupang, Building Engineer Detachment 1/IX Kupang, and Military Region Command Administration 161/Wira Sakti.

The shift of troops was carried out from Timor Island and on Flores Island using the KM Meliku Nusa Sea Highway Ship from the Port of Maumere.

Personnel who departed consisted of the Regional Pamwil Task Force and the Evacuation Task Force from Military District Command (Kodim) 1624/East Flores and Kodim 1603/Sikka, while the Pamwil Task Force and Evacuation Task Force who traveled by road were from Kodim 1602/Ende, Kodim 1625/Ngada, Kodim 1612/Manggarai, and Company C of Infantry Battalion 743/PSY.
