ASEAN and the People's Republic of China enhance collaboration to realize the vision of leveraging digital infrastructure and technology to promote economic development and community empowerment. The role of the telecommunications regulator is crucial in this era of rapid digital transformation to facilitate the growth of a strong, inclusive, and secure digital ecosystem.
Secretary General of the Ministry of Communications and Informatics Mira Tayyiba stated that collective efforts while maintaining basic values and principles will enable the use of digital technology to encourage sustainable innovation and progress.
"The ASEAN region and China share the aspirations to take advantage of the potential of technology to improve standards of living, create opportunities, and improve interconnectivity," she said at the 19th ASEAN Telecommunication Regulators' Council Meeting with the People's Republic of China in Badung, Bali, Thursday (24 August).
According to the Secretary General of the Ministry of Communication and Informatics, ASEAN and China must develop technologies such as artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, and 5G networks to be better prepared to reshape industry and society.
"Our collective commitment to fostering cooperation is significant in addressing the digital governance landscape, ensuring the availability, affordability, and accessibility of telecommunication services for all citizens," she emphasized.
As Chair of the 29th ATRC, Mira Tayyiba sees this spirit of collaboration as the basis for exchanging knowledge, expertise, and best practices.
“Our dialogue will cover a broad spectrum of topics, from 5G deployment, and spectrum management to cybersecurity and data protection. I hope our discussions bear fruit, our partnership endures, and our shared vision of a connected and prosperous future becomes a reality," she said.
