1,156 Hotel Rooms Ready in Labuan Bajo for ASEAN Summit
Kupang, Kominfo Newsroom - The Implementing Agency for the Labuan Bajo Flores Authority (BPOLBF) stated 1,156 rooms from 22 local hotels and resorts in Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) are ready to accommodate delegates and national committee members for the 42nd ASEAN Summit slated to be held at 9-11 May 2023.
"Currently, hotels and homestays are fully booked, delegates and national committee are staying in four and five star hotels in Labuan Bajo," said BPOLBF President Director Shana Fatina, in Labuan Bajo, Friday (4/21).
Shana said the organization of large-scale events such as the ASEAN Summit would definitely bring in a lot of tourists who have been scheduled to visit because these tourists would comprise of delegates and committee members.
From BPOLBF data, the available rooms come from 5 local five-star hotels and resorts, 5 local four-star hotels and resorts, 5 local three-star hotels and resorts, and 6 two-star hotels and resorts.
BPOLBF ensured that the current increase in hotel occupancy would give economic impact on the tourism industry and other creative economies in Labuan Bajo and its surroundings.
"The increasing tourist visits will economically give a multiplier effect, not only for hotel owners, but also for farmers through the food supply chain because there will also be an increase in demand for food ingredients," said Shana.
Jayakarta Labuan Bajo Hotel General Manager Reynes Sahadoen said the Phillipinian delegation is planning to stay at a four-star hotel during the ASEAN Summit. Room reservations for the foreign delegations is made for 5 to 12 May.
To make this international activity successful in terms of accommodation, his party has also made various preparations for cleanliness, security and comfort for the guest delegates who stay there.
Meanwhile, Jayakarta Hotel Management will also add casual staff or temporary employees who are hired to fullfill the need for additional staff during the period of 5—12 May 2023.
These staff employees are young people who have undergone industrial internships at the hotels. They are tasked with supporting the job to make the best arrangements for the 71 rooms prepared for their foreign delegate guests.
